This is how 91-year old Mr. Prajs remembers his service in the 3rd Light Cavalry Regiment. ?Shabbat wasn?t observed. Everything had to be done but on Sundays, everyone could go where he wanted. So it was like this: ?Attention! Jews, fall out! Orthodox, fall out! Anglicans, fall out!? and everyone went to his own place of worship. Among the dozen or so Jewish soldiers, one was religious. He didn?t eat the army food and kept kosher away from the barracks. In the morning he drank coffee and ate bread and his rights were honoured?.
