Calek Perechodnik

Confession - a foreign literature?
In the well known Krakow's shopping centre I stumbled across a "Confession" by Calek Perechodnik within books shelved as foreign-literature.
I've just read that book, and from my quite emotional point of view, it seemed to me that as Calek felt his whole life the fatum of alienation, as he is now still suffering from it. Could anyone explain me why? Why is the book written in Polish, in the Polish capital city, by a Polish Jew, a patriot, born in our beautiful Poland, classified by some well knew bookstore chain as a "foreign literature"? Foreign-sounding name? Ignorance?
Maybe you can check how is it in other bookshops?
